  1. Wooden fire-rated door To have a swing door, it needs to be able to open flexibly and close automatically.

  2. Used for evacuation routes Wooden fire-rated door It should have the function of immediately closing in the event of a fire, open in the direction of evacuation, and must not be equipped with locks or latches.

  3. Self-rescue double-leaf or multi-leaf fire doors shall be able to close in sequence.

  4. The overlapping cut of the door frame and door leaf of wooden fire doors shall be provided with a sealing groove and fitted with a seal made of non-combustible material.

  5. If conditions permit, it’s best to assemble the door leaf and door frame, install all hardware components, and then carry out the installation as a complete set.

  6. After making the wooden fire-rated door, immediately apply a coat of drying oil to prevent warping caused by moisture.

  7. Hardware installation must not be secured with wood screws; nails should be used instead.

Installation Method for Wood Fire Doors

Fire doors are classified according to their materials. There are steel fire doors and wood fire doors. These two types of fire doors differ slightly in installation details. Their fire ratings also vary somewhat. When installing either type, it’s crucial to pay close attention to the details.

First, when installing a wooden fire-rated door, the door frame should be 20 millimeters smaller than the doorway, and the bottom edge of the door frame should be embedded 20 millimeters below the floor level. The door frame must be installed strictly perpendicular to the wall. During assembly, pay close attention to ensuring that the corner posts are perfectly straight, avoiding any deviation or misalignment. There should be at least three fixing points on each side of the door frame, and the spacing between these points should ideally not exceed 800 millimeters.

II. During the installation of steel fire doors, to address potential bending and deformation of the door frame, wooden blocks should be used for support across the width of the frame. The bottom of the door frame should be embedded 20 millimeters below the ground level, and the embedded components of the door frame should be welded to the wall. Next, chisel holes in the wall at the upper corners of the door frame, then inject concrete made from a mixture of cement, sand, and expanded perlite (in a ratio of 1:2:3:605). Once the concrete has hardened, the door can be put into use.

Wooden fire doors have sealing requirements.

The national standard sets forth clear requirements for the size of each overlap gap in fire doors. For steel fire doors, the overlap between the door leaf and the frame must be less than 10 millimeters, and the gap on either side between the door leaf and the frame must not exceed 4 millimeters. After installation, the gaps in a fire door must not be too large; otherwise, it will be difficult to ensure the fire door’s sealing performance and to effectively demonstrate its ability to contain the spread of fire and smoke under fire conditions.

Therefore, the gap width during the installation of fire doors must be strictly controlled. By adhering to these standards and specifications, we can ensure, to a certain extent, the effective performance of fire doors. When hiring construction companies, consumers need to closely supervise their work to prevent issues such as theft of materials. This way, fire doors will not cause casualties in the event of a fire.

What is the purchasing method for wooden fire doors?

First, inspect the appearance: A high-quality steel fire door should have solid welds, and its fire-resistant sealant should be evenly distributed by brazing. The exterior surface should be coated smoothly and evenly. For a qualified wooden fire door, the appearance must be intact, with a clean surface free of wood shavings, burrs, or hammer marks. The cutting angles and joints should be firm and smooth; the specified locations must bear product markings, certificates of quality inspection approval, and quality certification (approval) labels.
