What are the manufacturing requirements for wood fire doors? A wood fire door refers to a door made of wood or wood products, with a door frame, door leaf frame, and door leaf panel, whose fire resistance meets the standards specified in “GB50045-95 Code for Fire Protection Design of High-Rise Civil Buildings.”

   Wooden fire-rated door What are the production requirements?

   Wooden fire-rated door Refers to wood or wood products—door frames, door leaf frames, door leaf panels—that meet the fire-resistance requirements specified in “GB50045-95 Code for Fire Protection Design of High-Rise Civil Buildings.”

  Fire doors are one of the facilities used to compartmentalize fires in buildings. They are primarily installed at firewalls, stairwell entrances and exits, or openings in pipe shafts, playing a crucial role in minimizing fire damage.

  Fire rating

  In the Fire Protection Code for High-Rise Civil Building Design, fire doors are classified into Class A, Class B, and Class C, with specific requirements for fire resistance. Class A doors must have a fire-resistance rating of less than 1.5 hours; Class B doors must have a rating of less than 1 hour; and Class C doors must have a rating of less than 0.5 hours.

   Wooden fire-rated door It is divided into two major series: full-panel and half-glass, as well as various single- and double-specification models.

  Specification dimensions

   Wooden fire-rated door The dimensions of the openings and construction dimensions shall comply with the provisions of GB 5824, "Series of Dimensions for Building Door and Window Openings."

   Wooden fire-rated door Production requirements:

  1) Door frames and doors with a thickness greater than 50 millimeters shall be joined using double mortise-and-tenon joints. When assembling the frame and door leaf, the mortise and tenon slots should be carefully fitted and adjusted; adhesive should be used to bond them, and wedges should be employed to secure them tightly.

  Note: For Class I products in humid areas, water-resistant phenolic resin adhesives must be used; for Class II products, semi-water-resistant urea-formaldehyde resins may be used.

  2) When manufacturing plywood doors (including fiberboard doors), the frame and crossbars must be aligned on the same plane, and the frame and crossbars must be bonded under pressure after polishing. To prevent moisture from accumulating or causing deformation, at least two ventilation tubes should be drilled in each of the top, middle, and bottom sections of the crossbars.

  3) The manufacturing quality of doors must comply with the following regulations:

  (1) The surface must be glossy or thoroughly cleaned, and free of wood chips, burrs, and hammer marks.

  (2) The wiring of boxes and fans shall meet the design requirements and be properly chamfered and securely sewn.

  (3) Doors made of composite materials and single-material doors, as well as door panels made of plywood or fiberboard, must not exhibit bridging. Plywood must not have its surface veneer pierced or reversed.

  (4) The allowable deviations for door fabrication shall comply with the provisions in Table 5.1-1.

  4) Once the conditions are met, it’s best to assemble the door leaf and the frame, install all the hardware components, and then proceed with the installation as a complete set. Typically, you should first install the door frame and then install the door leaf.

  5) After the wooden fire-rated door is manufactured, it should be immediately wiped once with a dry oil to prevent deformation caused by moisture.

  6) The installation of door hardware shall meet the following requirements:

  (1) All hardware must be installed in appropriate locations and securely fastened.

  (2) The hinge should be positioned at a height equal to one-tenth of the door’s total height, avoiding vertical risers above and below. After installation, the door should open and close smoothly and flexibly.

  (3) All hardware components are secured with wood screws; nails must not be used as a substitute. First, use a hammer to drill to one-third of the screw’s depth, then tighten the screw—never drill all the way through. When working with hardwood, first drill a hole that is two-thirds the depth of the screw, with a diameter 0.9 times the diameter of the wood screw.

  (4) Door locks must not be installed at the point where the chin and lip meet.

  (5) The door handle should be located below the center of the door’s height, with a recommended distance from the floor of 0.9 to 1.05 meters.
