Comparison of Advantages and Disadvantages Between Casement Windows and Sliding Windows
Casement windows offer excellent sealing, sound insulation, and thermal performance; however, when open, they take up additional space. Casement windows are further divided into inward-opening and outward-opening types. Inward-opening casement windows occupy space within the room itself, while outward-opening ones may appear unsafe in high-rise residential buildings.
The advantage of sliding windows is that they don't take up much space, are relatively easy to install, and have a lower cost. However, sliding windows can open at most to half the window's total area and cannot be fully opened. That said, many casement windows have fixed glass panes in the middle that can't be opened at all; in such cases, the ventilation area of casement windows is actually comparable to that of sliding windows.
