Let’s take a look at the installation methods for wooden fire doors. As society continues to develop, people are becoming increasingly aware of fire safety. As a result, many venues now use fire doors as their main entrance doors. Compared to ordinary entrance doors, fire doors offer numerous advantages—particularly in terms of structural stability and, most importantly, their superior fire-resistant performance. Common types of fire doors typically include wooden fire doors and steel fire doors. Next, we’ll explain the installation procedures for wooden fire doors.
Let's take a look together. Wooden fire-rated door What are the installation methods?
As society continues to develop, people are paying increasing attention to fire safety awareness. Many venues now use fire-rated doors as their main entrances. Compared to ordinary entrance doors, fire-rated doors offer numerous advantages—particularly in terms of structural stability and critical fire-resistance performance. Common types of fire-rated doors typically include wooden fire-rated doors and steel fire-rated doors. Below, we’ll explain the installation procedure for wooden fire-rated doors.
1. Observed data
Measure the external dimensions of the door leaf and door frame, then perform preliminary calculations: Total width of the door leaf = Internal opening dimension of the door casing – Pre-embedded gap for the door leaf; Total width of the storefront = Total width of the door leaf + Total width of the corner trim; Doorway width = Total width of the door leaf + Pre-embedded gap for the door leaf + Thickness of the door casing’s computer motherboard + Thickness of the door casing’s fixing plate + Adjustment allowance for the door casing. Based on the dimensions of the door leaf, the doorway height should be reduced by 10 mm, and the total width should be reduced by 15 mm.
2. Assemble gradually
Mark the construction guide lines on the wall surface, use thin plywood for internal support, and simulate the assembly of all components of the door frame to ensure that each part fits properly. Insert the door frame edges into the wall openings, ensuring that the frame edges and top edge form a 45-degree angle. Verify that both sides of the door frame are parallel and vertical, and that the top edge is level. After installing the door frame, sand down any uneven areas between the wall and the door frame, fill in gaps, and then apply wall plaster or tile them. Identify the installation positions for the door hinges, mark the corresponding locations on the door frame, and leave an appropriate gap at these points. Create 2-3 mm slots in the door frame, and secure the hinges using the provided screws. Temporarily fix the door leaf onto its corresponding mounting bracket and adjust it to the correct position. Mark the hinge attachment points on the door frame, mill hinge slots accordingly, and use screws to connect the door leaf to the frame and securely fasten the hinges. Install the lock cylinder housing and lock hole plate onto the door frame. With these steps completed, the fire-rated door leaf will be fully installed.
Wooden fire-rated door What are the construction acceptance standards?
1. The mitered edges and joints of wooden fire doors shall be tight and neatly finished; the surface of engineered wood panels must not be planed through the veneer layer; the surface finish should be smooth and polished, and the coating should be even and well-applied, with no signs of paint buildup, bubbles, missed areas, or running.
2: The wooden fire-rated door has a total opening width of 1200 mm and a relative opening height of 2100 mm. The door leaf does not feature laminated glass, the door frame has a single-jamb design, there are no glazed panels, and the door leaf lacks an external frame. The door leaf closes counterclockwise. This double-leaf fire-rated door boasts a flame-retardant duration of at least 1.00 hour and a fire-resistance duration of at least 0.05 hour.
3: The wooden fire-rated doors in the corridors are typically 1.2 meters thick; the distribution room doors are 1.5 meters thick; side doors range from 0.9 to 1 meter thick; and the rooftop machine rooms have doors that are 1.2 to 1.5 meters thick. Generally, fire-rated door manufacturers produce doors with widths up to 2400 mm.
