By contrast, wooden fire-rated doors are lightweight, offer smooth and flexible operation, boast superior decorative appearance and a wide variety of patterns; yet they come at a higher price and are typically employed in mid-range civil buildings or in situations where the building’s functionality is particularly critical. Generally, the standard dimensions for each fire-rated door opening are 3.3 meters in height, 1.1 meters in width, and 3.0 meters in double-leaf configuration. In engineering design, in addition to strictly adhering to regulatory requirements regarding the location, section, width, rating, and opening direction of fire-rated doors, attention should also be paid to the following considerations:
Fire doors in Guangxi are typically installed along evacuation routes (such as stairwells, anterooms, corridors, etc.). If the detailed design of the building’s floor plan is not carefully considered, it could obstruct the opening and closing path of the door leaf, reduce the effective width, and thus violate fundamental requirements for safe evacuation. It classifies fire doors into three categories: fully insulated fire doors (Class A), partially insulated fire doors (Class B), and non-insulated fire doors (Class C). Meanwhile, the fire-resistance limits originally assigned to Classes A, B, and C have been adjusted to 1.5 hours, 1.0 hour, and 0.5 hour, respectively. This has enriched the variety of fire door products available in China and expanded the range of options for practical applications.
For applications where only certain fire-rated doors in Guangxi require partial thermal insulation or fire resistance, partially insulated or non-insulated fire doors may be selected. The new standard stipulates that when filling the door leaf with materials, fire-resistant and thermally insulating materials that are non-toxic and harmless to humans must be used, thereby minimizing the impact on human health.
